About Us

Cleft Care Scotland (CCS) is a clinical network which aims to improve services for people born with a cleft lip and/or palate throughout their life.

CCS is one of a range of specialist networks within National Networks which is part of NHS National Services Scotland; a national board operating at the heart of NHS Scotland which helps ensure patients across Scotland have the best possible access to high-quality specialist care. Networks bring together a range of health and other professionals involved in providing care for patients with rare and/or complex conditions when the full range of skills required isn’t available within an NHS board or even within a region. Operating on a national level, networks work across professional and organisational boundaries to support Scottish Government policy aims. This ensures delivery of safe, effective healthcare that’s designed around patients, carers and families.

Our vision is to achieve the best possible clinical and other outcomes for children and adults living in Scotland who were born with a cleft lip and/or palate, and reduce the burden of care for cleft patients and their families. This is achieved through better access to high quality specialist care by enabling SGHSCD policy aims of safe, effective, person centred care delivered as close to home as possible.
